Last Friday we had the visit of more than 25 students from IES Consell de Cent (Barcelona), who joined the ESCOLAB programme to visit universities and research centers in Catalonia.
Nanopto actively participated in this activity giving talk of our researchers Dr. Agustín Mihi, and Dr. Juan Luís García Pomar entitled “Materials of the future for energy”. Agustín talked about the light, photonic materials and solar cells, and Juan Luís about fluorescent and fosforescent materials, and made some nice demos with UV light.
In the second part of the visit, the PhD researchers Martí Gibert and Enrique Pascual, showed the students how to build a dye-synthesized solar cell based on natural dyes like coffee, wine or rapberry. So, every student could make one and test it in the sunlight.
